lyrics

Verse 1:
Food and drink no longer satisfy.
The freshest morning breeze is cold and dry.
To me, to live is Christ to die is gain,
And the lamp that shines its own light shines in vain, so,

Chorus 1:
I won’t shine anything unless it’s the light from the eyes of the King,
And I won’t drink any wine unless it was pressed from the One True Vine,
And I won’t eat any bread unless it’s the Body that’s no longer dead,
And I won’t breathe anymore unless it’s the Wind from the primal shore.

Verse 2:
The spotless never blush or bow with shame.
Immortals never fear sword, beast or flame.
My fingers were trained to fight a war that’s won,
By a Captain who can bloody the moon and blacken the sun.

Chorus 2:
So demons fear my tongue ‘cause it speaks the name of the Man Who Hung.
Yes, I will serve my LORD with the blood and my story and a two-edged sword.
The earth and sky shall fall, but I’ll sing the words that outlast them all.
En arche en ho Logos (In the beginning was the Word)…Kai Theos en ho Logos (And the Word was God).

Verse 3:
It’s Christ in me and I no longer live.
My spirit is alive; my soul’s not mine to give.
My body couldn’t stay in the grave, even if I chose,
‘Cause body, soul and spirit I’m a slave to the One Who Rose,

Chorus 3:
And I’ll join angels in praise and bow at the throne of the Ancient of Days,
And I will bask in the light and know neither sorrow nor darkness nor night,
And I will eat of the tree and drink of the river and finally be free,
And I’ll have plenty of time, for glory is my nature immortality’s mine.

Bridge:
It’s mine.
Immortality’s mine.
It’s mine.

Chorus 4:
And it all ever shall be Christ in me and I in He, LORD,
It all ever shall be Thou in me and I in Thee. (repeat)
