about

Jotham was minding his own business one day, creating his bewildering avant-garde electronic music when his mother approached. "I have written a great hymn of the faith," she said before she handed him a sheet of lyrics and walked away. Jotham knew what he had to do: try his hand a traditional hymn and then try the hymn in the fires of techno. The result is this four-track maxi-single. There's a traditional-style hymn, the electronic remix, a traditional instrumental version and an electronic karaoke version. It's great for singing along, backing up a small church service or just sitting back and listening. Go ahead. Turn your speakers up. Jotham's mom dares you.

Track Name: Holy, Holy, High and Holy (Psalm 57 Mix)
(That new church organ sure has a lovely tone! Why don't you try one of the rhythm accompaniments? Turn on the little box!)

(In the Apocalypse of St. John we read about the four living creatures who cry "Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty who was and is and is to come. Let us Join these glorious creatures in the praise of their God and ours.)

(I think we can start choir practice now!)

Holy! Holy! High and holy!
Holy! Holy is the Lamb!
Holy! Holy! High and holy!
Holy! Holy is the Lamb!
Holy! Holy! High and holy!
Reign forever, God the Great I Am!

(God of power and might.)
Holy! Holy! High and holy!
Holy! Holy God of pow'r and might!
Holy! Holy! High and holy!
Holy! Holy God of pow'r and might!
Only, only You are holy!
None approach You in Your brilliant light!

Psalm 57:7-11

"My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast;
I will sing and give praise.

Awake, my glory!
Awake, lute and harp!
I will awaken the dawn.

I will praise You, O Lord, among the peoples;
I will sing to You among the nations.

For Your mercy reaches unto the heavens,
And Your truth unto the clouds.

Be exalted, O God, above the heavens;
Let Your glory be above all the earth."
Amen and amen!

Wake, my glory!
Wake, harp in my hands!
I'll wake the dawn to unfurl his golden bands!

My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast;
I will sing and give You praise.

(Please turn with me to our opening hymn.)
Holy! Holy! High and holy!
Spirit well up like a living fount.
Holy! Holy! High and holy!
Spirit well up like a living fount.

Holy! Holy! High and holy!
Spirit well up like a living fount.
Father, Son, and Spirit make us holy!
Dwell among us on Your temple mount!
